Need Help?

Buckhead Christian Ministry provides both short-term relief and longer-term assistance to people in need. Our core programs revolve around providing food and shelter.

The C. SPENCER GODFREY FOOD PANTRY

In 2006, BCM distribued over 19,000 bags of food to hungry moms, dads and kids. The Pantry is stocked with canned goods and staples that are handed out by staff and volunteers to the hungry people who come to our door. The food comes almost entirely from voluntary food drives sponsored by churches and civic groups, and from individual donations.

You can feed Atlanta's hungry families by making a donation of food, by making a cash donation, or by organizing a food drive. For information on how to sponsor a food drive, call 404-239-0058 ext 111 or email us now.

EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

At BCM, one goal is to prevent homelessness by keeping people from being evicted from their apartments or homes. In most cases, the people we help can normally pay their monthly bills, but have had a crisis - an illness, a death in family, a divorce, or a job setback. By helping pay rent, mortgages, or utilities bill, BCM keeps people off the street and in a stable, secure in environment.

THE 70/30 PROJECT

The 70/30 Project serves working families who are not yet homeless, but who need more than one-time assistance in order to maintain their home. In this program, BCM provides rent and utility support for four months. While enrolled in the program, families attend a 16-week money management course and meet weekly with financial coaches and social workers.

TRANSITIONAL HOUSING

BCM's Transitional Housing Program helps homeless, working families with children move into apartments. The program teaches families the skills necessary to achieve financial independence, and places them in apartment homes for a period of eighteen to twenty-four months. To participate, at least one adult in each family must be employed. The families pay 30% of their income toward debt and/or savings. During their stay, families complete BCM's Money Management Course along with classes on other important life skills. Graduates who have saved money consistently for six months qualify for a saving match.

Did you know that 40 percent of the people in Georgia who are homeless are families with children?

BUCKHEAD THRIFTique

BCM operates a boutique-style thrift store called Buckhead THRIFTique. The store provides free clothing to BCM clients, affordable clothing to the community and opportunities to volunteer. All profits support BCM's programs.

The store accepts donations of small household items and of clean, gently used clothing. Donations may be dropped off at the store during normal business hours. All contributions are tax-deductible.

NEW WORKER SUPPORT

BCM assists people who have secured new jobs but need help with transportation, uniforms or housing until they receive a paycheck. BCM also provides computers and internet use for those searching for jobs, as well and phones and fax machines.

CHRISTMAS PROGRAMS

BCM's "Joyous Toys" program provides Christmas gifts to children across Atlanta. Parents come to BCM's Joyous Toys store in early December and "shop" for new toys that have been donated by individuals, churches, and corporations. In 2006, more than 1,100 children woke up to open gifts on Christmas morning thanks to the generosity of our community.

BCM's Adopt-a-Family matches sponsoring families, offices and groups with families who have experienced a crisis such as a fire, flooding or severe illness.

For information on how you can participate in these programs, call the BCM office at 404-239-0058 ext 111or email us now.
